Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery is the most marketable degree program in Kenya. It has the highest cluster points. For a JAB student, you have to score and A plain to be assured of enrolling for the course. After graduation, you’ll secure employment immediately. The starting salary is Ksh 120,000 to Ksh 200,000 per month.

Admission to the University of Nairobi is by the University Senate through the Public Universities Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) whose membership comprises Vice-Chancellors of the Public Universities, Principals of Colleges, Directors of Institutes and Deans of Schools and the academic registrars as secretaries.
The admission is based on the minimum University entry requirements. In addition the applicants should meet the enrolment requirements for the School for the various courses which depend on the KCSE subject cluster as follows:-

Minimum entry requirements
All candidates must satisfy the common requirements for entry to university. In addition:
i. KCSE holders: an average of B+ plus in the 4 cluster subjects shown below provided that no subject in the cluster shall be below B plain
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics/ mathematics
• English/ Kiswahili
ii. Advanced level holders: a minimum of 2 principal passes in Biology and Chemistry and one subsidiary pass in Physics/Maths. In addition to a Credit pass in English
iii. Diploma in Clinical Medicine : a minimum “O” level Division 11 or C+ plus mean grade and Credit pass C+ in the cluster subjects in KCSE in addition to a Credit pass in the professional qualification from a recognized Medical Training Institution
iv. Holders of any degree in the biological sciences from JKUAT or an equivalent qualification from a university recognized by JKUAT
Transfer of Credits
Applicants seeking transfer of credits for similar courses taken from institutions recognized by the university senate may:
a) Send a formal application seeking transfer of credits , justification of the request and attach evidence of the credentials which will support such request
b) Apply for transfer of credits which is processed only after payment of the prescribed exemption fee.
Kenya Methodist University Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery Admission Requirements

In order to pursue this programme at Kenyatta University School of Medicine, apart from obtaining a mean grade at least C+ in KCSE, the candidate must pass the subject clusters indicated below or two principal passes at A level or their equivalents.

NB: The programme takes 6 academic years to complete, each academic years having three semesters. Every course in the programme is core and must be successfully completed before the student can graduate.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery Entry requirements
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR SELF SPONSORED STUDENTS:
Mean Grade of B+ at KCSE; B+ in Biology and Chemistry; and B+ in either Maths/Physics either English/Kiswahili. A weighted cluster point of 40 and above is mandatory.
Holders of Diplomas, BSc & Masters degrees in related subjects if: i. KCSE Graduates, have a Mean Grade of B and B in Biology, Chemistry and either Maths or Physics, and B in either English or Kiswahili. ii. O’ Level and ‘A’ Level System: O’ Level – Division II with credit passes in Biology, and chemistry, and either Math or Physics and either English or Kiswahili. In A’ Level – Have principal passes in Biology, Chemistry and either Maths/ Physics.
O’ level British GCE system: Have at least a B in Biology and Chemistry; and either Maths or Physics and English, additionally at A’ level have at least a B in Biology, Chemistry and either Maths or Physics.
Uzima University Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery Entry Requirements
Mean grade B, and B plain in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics/Physics, English/Kiswahili.

Holders of Diploma in Medical related courses, a Mean grade of C+ in KCSE and an average of C+ in Cluster subjects

Holders of Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences and a Minimum of C+ in Cluster subjects.

Maseno University Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery Admission Requirements
Mean Grade of B+ at KCSE; B+ in Biology and Chemistry; and B+ in either Maths/Physics either English/Kiswahili. A weighted cluster point of 40 and above is mandatory.
- For Kenya advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) holders, a minimum of two principal passes in Biology, Chemistry and subsidiary pass in either Mathematics or Physics.
- For diploma holders in Medical Sciences, a minimum ‘O’ level Division II pass in KCE or C+ mean grade and a credit C+ in cluster subjects in KCSE, in addition to a three-year diploma with a minimum of a credit pass from a medical training institution recognized by the Board.
- For holders of any degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized university subject to passing Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
- Other qualifications deemed to be equivalent to those in paragraphs (a)-(d) above from institutions recognized by the different institution’s Senates
- Proficiency in English language
