Bachelor of Actuarial Science Admission Requirements in Kenya
If you want to easily become rich in Kenya pursue a course like Actuarial Science. But for you to become more marketable, you should combine Actuarial Science with CFA or Actuarial Professional certification. Actuaries work in banks, Actuarial firms, research firms, insurance companies, audit firms or government institutions. They also work in private institutions like FSD.

University of Nairobi Bachelor of Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
Candidates must satisfy the University’s general admission criteria for undergraduate programmes.
Eligibility for consideration for admission into the degree of Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science at the School of Mathematics shall be governed by the following minimum admission requirements or an equivalent qualification recognized by Senate:
KCSE:
A holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum aggregate performance of B. In addition candidates must have obtained a minimum grade of B+ in Mathematics.
A-Level:
A holder of Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with 2 principal passes in Mathematics/Physics, Mathematics/Chemistry, Mathematics/Geography, or Mathematics/Economics.
Diploma in Computer Studies/Statistics/Education:
A holder of an ordinary diploma in computer studies, Statistics, or Education with Mathematics as a major subject, or equivalent with, a minimum pass at credit level, from an institution recognized by Senate and had obtained a mean grade C at KCSE.
Bachelor’s Degree:
A holder of a Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by the Senate, preferably with a good Mathematics background.
CREDIT TRANSFER AND EXEMPTIONS
The point of entry into the programme for candidates other than direct KCSE shall be approved by the Senate on recommendations of the Board of the School of Mathematics and shall be based on the qualification of the candidate.
Credit Transfer
- A candidate who has been admitted to this program and has taken and passes a course unit offered within another degree program may apply for transfer of the credit earned within the previous program to this program.
- Credit transfers will only be approved from institutions and degree programs recognized by the senate.
- Where a candidate wishes to transfer credit from a degree program of another institution to this program, the candidate shall send an application to the academic registrar justifying the request and provide evidence of the credentials which support such a request.
- Credits may not be transferred in the third year and fourth year of study.
- Application for credit transfer shall be considered only after the applicant has paid the exemption fees
Exemptions
- Where a candidate wishes to be exempted from any course unit(s), the candidate shall send an application to the academic registrar justifying the request and provide evidence of credentials that support such a request. Such a candidate may be required to sit and pass an ordinary university exam in that unit.
- Regulation 1 above notwithstanding, all course units which contribute towards the final award of the degree will be examined.
- The examination undertaken under regulation 1 shall be graded out of 100% and the pass mark shall be 40%.
- Application for exemption shall be considered only after the applicant has paid an exemption fee.
Maximum Exemption and Credit Transfer
The total number of units that may be transferred plus those exempted may not exceed one-third of the total number of units prescribed in this program

JKUAT BSc. Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements
Mean grade C+, Mathematics B-, English C+
Multimedia University of Kenya Bachelor of Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
KCSE mean grade of C+ and a minimum of C+ in both English and Mathematics or KACE Certificate with two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in Mathematics at KCE or relevant professional qualifications approved by the University Senate. Successful Diploma graduates with at least a CREDIT Pass will join in 2nd Year
KCA University Bachelor of Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
Entry Qualifications
KCSE mean grade B+ (plus) with a B (plain) in Mathematics OR any other equivalent qualification approved by the university senate. For actual subject and work experience requirements please contact the enrollment office. Duration: 3 years (9 trimesters)
Technical University of Kenya Bachelor of Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
KCSE Mean Grade C+ (plus) with C+ (Plus) in Maths and a Pass in any Group II, Group III and Group IV/V • Diploma in Technology in actuarial science and KCSE Mean Grade C- (Minus)
Karatina University Bachelor of Science Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
Minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE with a B in Maths OR Diploma in Actuarial Science or Applied Statistics from a recognized institution.
Chuka University Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
Mean grade C+ in KCSE with at least C+ in Math, OR 2 Principals in Math/Phys, Math/Chem, Math/Geog, Math/ Econ in IGCE/GCE or KACE, OR Diploma in Statistics or Computer studies with at least a credit, OR Diploma in Education with at least a credit and a pass in Math from Senate-recognized institutions.
Moi University Bachelor of Science Admission requirements
To be admitted into the B.Sc. in Actuarial Science program, a candidate must satisfy the minimum University entry requirements. In addition, candidates must satisfy the following subject cluster:-
Mathematics OR Mathematics
Any group II Physical Science
Any group III Biological Science
Any from Group II/III /IV/V Geography/Accounts/Commerce
Privately Sponsored Students Programme:
To be admitted to this degree Programme a candidate must have
(i) A minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE, and at least B-(minus) in Mathematics and C+(plus) in English or Kiswahili
OR
(ii) KNEC Diploma in actuarial science or its equivalent recognized by University Senate. (Candidates with grade Pass may be admitted to first year of study, credit/distinction to second year of study)
Mature Entrance Admission
Eligible mature entrants will have either of the following qualifications:
(i) KNEC Diploma holders or their equivalent recognized by University who meet the admission requirements are eligible for admission on credit transfer. (Pass into first, credit/distinction into second year).
(ii) Candidates with equivalent qualifications as approved by senate may be considered.
Mount Kenya University Bachelor of Actuarial Science Admission Requirements
Eligibility for consideration for admission into the degree of Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science at the University be governed by the following minimum admission requirements or an equivalent qualification recognized by Senate:
- KCSE mean grade of C+ and a minimum of B- (minus) in Mathematics and C+ in English OR
- KACE certificate with two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in Mathematics at KCE OR
- A holder of an ordinary diploma in computer studies, Statistics, or Education with Mathematics as a major subject, or equivalent with, a minimum pass at credit level, from an institution recognized by the University Senate.
- Relevant professional qualifications approved by the University Senate.
- Successful Diploma graduates with at least a CREDIT Pass will join in 2nd Year
The student must also satisfy the University’s general admission criteria for undergraduate programmes.
Note: These are general minimum entry requirements, however each University that offers the Bachelor os Science in Actuarial Science prgoramme has its own specific entry requirements.
Maseno Ubiversity Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science, with IT) Admission requirements
The Bachelor of Science (Actuarial Science, with IT) is offered by School of Mathematics, Applied Statistics and Actuarial Sciences
The Actuarial Sciences degree programme is designed to provide broad training in the basic Mathematics underlying the operations of private and social insurance and employee benefit plans.
