Our Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • KCSE aggregate C+
  • 6 Credits at O level, A level 2 principal passes and 1 subsidiary
  • IB minimum of 24 out of 45
  • A distinction in the Strathmore Entrance Exam
  • Proven leadership skills in school & community and outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities are an added advantage

All candidates meeting the entry requirements are required to sit in the University entrance examination in English and Mathematics and an oral interview.

Interviews are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8.00 am

Candidates are required to bring:

  • originals and copies of relevant academic certificates
  • 2 passport-size photographs
  • a photocopy of birth certificate or National ID or Passport
  • an exam fee Kshs. 2,000 entrance

University of Nairobi Bachelor of Commerce Admission Requirements

Admission will be on the basis of academic qualifications and more specifically will be governed by any one of the following Senate approved regulations:

The following are eligible for admission into the programme:

a)   Holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum aggregate of  C+ and a minimum of  C in both Mathematics and English/Kiswahili.

b)     Holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and  a minimum of a credit  (6)  pass in Mathematics at KCE.

c)      Holder of a degree from a recognized university.

d)     Holder of a diploma from a recognized institution.

e)Holder of  CPA/CPS  Part II or equivalent professional qualification.

f)        Holder of pre-university qualification with minimum average score of C or equivalent from a recognized university.

g)     Holder of qualifications deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.

Kibabii University Bachelor of Commerce Entry Requirements

Mean grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE and at least a C (Plain) in Mathematics or Business Studies, and C+ (Plus) in English Or 2 Principal passes and 1 Subsidiary at A’ Level plus at least a credit in English and Mathematics at O’Level. The Catholic University of Eastern Africa Bachelor of Commerce Entry Requirements

  • KCSE holders must have a minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus).
  • Advanced Certificate of Education GCE or A-levels applicants must have at least 2 principal passes and one subsidiary pass or its equivalent and must have passed in subjects related to the course applied for.
  • Diploma or professional certificate in a relevant discipline from an institution recognized by the University Senate.
  • Advanced Diploma in a Relevant field, applicant must have an ordinary diploma from a recognized institution,
  • Applicants for Advanced Diploma in Teaching in Higher Education must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
  • Pre-University certificate with a mean of c+ (plus) and above from a recognized institution, and must have scored a C in KSCE or its equivalent.

University of Embu Bachelor of Commerce Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. Mean grade C+ at KCSE or equivalent with at least C (Plain) or above in Mathematics and English/Kiswahili; OR,

Mean grade C+ in KCSE with C in Math, OR 2 Principals and 1 Subsidiary in KACE and at least a credit in Math and Engl/Kisw in KCE, OR Diploma in Business related areas with at least a credit, OR CPA/CPS II, OR HND in Business related disciplines from Senate-recognized institutions. Gretsa University Bachelor of Commerce Entry Requirements

A candidate must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements: Be a holder of KCSE (or equivalent examination) certificate with a minimum aggregate of C+ and a minimum of C in both Mathematics /Business Studies
and English ,Or Be a holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass, and a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE, Or

PROGRAMME DURATION

The B Com degree programme shall take four academic years of study (8 semesters in 3 calendar years) in situations where the student is admitted in Year 1 Semester 1.
CREDIT TRANSFER

Holders of KNEC, KIM or University Diplomas, ATD, DCM, Part II CPA/CS/CCP/CIFA will join in 2nd year and those with CPA/CPS/CCP/CIM part III or KNEC Higher Diploma in Business or equivalent recognized final level professional qualifications will join the programme in the 3rd year of study provided credit transfers granted do not exceed 49% of credits offered in the entire B.com programme.

SPECIALIZATION OPTIONS
The school of business offers the following specialization options:- Accounting, Business Administration, Credit Management, Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Purchasing and Supply Chain Management.
MINOR/DOUBLE MAJOR OPTIONS

A Student who opts to take 2 additional course units per semester from among the 3 specialization course units offered in a different concentration area consistently throughout the 3rd and 4th years of study will apart from graduating with a major in their first chosen specialization option, also graduate with a minor in their chosen area of specialization.

A student who takes all 3 specialization courses in additional specialization area will graduate with a double major.
