There are several high paying jobs in Kenya which do not require a university degree. The most challenging thing is to find a job that pays well when you don’t possess a degree course. Some of the jobs pay as high as Ksh200, 000 per month.
Here is a list of high paying jobs in Kenya which do not require a degree courses:
Pilot
To become a pilot, you don’t require a university degree, you can finish form four and join college for aviation courses. You’ll spend at least Ksh 6 million to study for the course.
Pilots earn between Ksh300, 000 and Ksh2 million per month.
KDF
To join KDF, it’s not a must you possess a degree course, even a form four certificate is enough. Only the Cadet are required to possess a degree or score at least C+ in KCSE.
The salary for a KDF officer is above Ksh70, 000 per month. Only the trainees earn below 70k per month.
MCA & MP
MCAs are not required to possess a degree course same as MPs. You can become an MCA even when you only possess a KCPE certificate.MCAs earn over Ksh500, 000 per month.
To become an MP, you only need to know how to read and write. Once you secure the seat, your monthly salary will be at least Ksh1.2 million.
Police Service
Police don’t necessarily earn a lot of money but those working in the traffic department make a lot of cash. A police officer earning Ksh 30,000 per month can make more than Ksh400, 000 per month. Most of them have decent homes, apartments and also invested heavily.
To be a police officer in Kenya, you need at least D in KCSE
Pharmacist
Someone with a diploma in pharmacy becomes a pharmacist as long as they are registered with relevant bodies. Most of them start their own Chemists after graduation. In Nairobi, A Chemist makes over Ksh100, 000 per month. Those situated in Nairobi CBD generate more than Ksh500, 000 per month each.
Mobile phone repair jobs
I have gone to Nairobi CBD several times, I like visiting those guys who repair mobile phones. The lines I see in those shops are long, they always make me curious to know how much they make. One guy told me he makes over Ksh300, 000 per month.
To repair mobile phones, you don’t require a degree course, only a certificate or experience that’s needed.
Electrician
To become an electrician, you don’t require a university degree, only a certificate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Upon completion, you’ll then employ yourself. If you’re good in what you do, you’ll make good income.
Mechanic
I know of a couple of mechanics who didn’t even proceed past high school but they own their own garage. One of them has a busy garage and employs over 10 people. In a normal month, he makes over Ksh500, 000.
Real Estate broker
You can be a real estate broker where to advertise land and houses for sell and earn commission. You don’t need a degree for you to do this job.You are only required to have good marketing skills in order to make it in this industry.
Radio presenter
You have seen many Kenyans becoming Radio Presenters even without university degrees. Even Maina Kageni does not possess a degree course, he is a Radio presenter earning over Ksh1.2 million per month.
Blogging
Another job you can do without a university degree in Kenya is blogging. All you need are blogging skills. There are no specific qualifications for one to become a blogger, you just require internet and a laptop.
As a blogger, you can earn even Ksh10 million if you like. With passion, determination and hard work, you’ll certainly succeed.
Blogging needs a capital of Ksh 5,000 to Ksh 20,000.You need a domain name, web hosting plan and a WordPress content management system.
Become a YouTuber
There are many YouTubers in Kenya without university degrees, some earning millions. This is a job you can do even when your only qualification is a primary certificate.
The likes of Eve Mungai do not possess any degree but that girl earns over Ksh1.5 million per month.
To become a YouTube, just sign up for a new YouTube channel, post videos and sign up to AdSense. But your channel will be approved if it’s 12 months old, has over 1000 subscribers and at least 4000 watch hours.
Academic writing
Over 10,000 Kenyans are currently doing academic writing jobs and earning decent income. It’s a job you can do even without a diploma course.
Academic writing jobs pay individuals in terms of pages of work completed. You will earn Ksh 200 to Ksh2000 per page.
Start a business
Running a business is also a job. Most businesses in Kenya don’t need a degree course, they need skills to manage one. Identify a profitable business, look for capital and start.
