One of the ways of joining Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA) is through internships. Nowadays KRA does not employ Graduate Trainees regularly, they take in interns who are later confirmed. Internship in KRA pay Ksh20,000 per month. After tax and other deductions, they take home Ksh17,000.
Interns are recruited from a pool of new graduates. To get the opportunity, you have to possess undergraduate degree. A second Class Upper division is ideal, if you get first class, the better.It’s difficult to get internship in KRA if you score Second Class Lower Division or Pass.
While in college, ensure that you pursue professional courses like CPA,CFA ,CFE or ACCA because they will boost your chances of getting a job at KRA.You should also join Kenya School of Revenue Administration and pursue any course.
Internship lasts 3 months to two years.Upon completion, they might extend your stay or terminate your internship. But if you are lucky,you will be absorbed into the system.
Entry jobs at KRA pay Ksh80,000 to Ksh120,000 per month.If you are an officer,you will earn over Ksh80,000 monthly.Once you get promoted to the position of Supervisor you will earn over Ksh150,000 per month.
