KDF Ranks and Salaries in Kenya 2023/2024

KDF earn more money than the police in Kenya.The salaries of KDF officers range between Ksh 20,000 and Ksh1.2 million per month.The lowest paid KDF officers are new recruits who are not fully employed,they earn as low as Ksh20,000 per month.But immediately they complete training,their salaries rise to Ksh70,000 to Ksh90,000 per month. The highest paid KDF officer is the Chief of Defence who takes home Ksh 900,000 to Ksh 1.2 million per month.

One advantage of being in KDF is that when you buy products in barracks, they are cheaper than buying outside. Sometimes they are priced half of the actual prices. In barracks you are also allowed to marry and to get married and houses are provided for free.

Another advantage is that when you are sent on peace mission, there are allowances paid. If you are sent to Somalia, you get paid Ksh 10,000 daily. Imagine if you stay there for one year, you will earn over Ksh3 million more in a year
