Diploma in Mortuary Science is one of the most marketable diploma courses in Kenya. But it’s one course that needs courage and determination. If you don’t have courage to touch dead people, don’t dare pursue this course, because you will be working in the morgue.
One reason it’s among the most marketable is because the demand for morgue attendants is bigger than the supply. You’ll find one person working for two facilities because few people are willing to do this job.
Currently, the level of joblessness is high but when it comes to mortuary attendant jobs, they are many.
This program is offered at KMTC and the minimum requirement to pursue it is C- in KCSE.It takes less than 2 years to complete the entire program. Once you are through, you won’t be jobless.
Mortuary attendants earn Ksh 70,000 to Ksh 150,000 per month. They are also tipped by clients. In a month, you’ll find someone earning over Ksh 200,000.
If you manage to work at Lee Funeral, mash or any other well established Morgue, you will be sure of making over Ksh 200,000 monthly.
Mortuary attendant job is so demanding, you will be working even at night.But it’s a very rewarding profession.
