Ecobank is one of the best paying banks in Kenya. At entry level is the Graduate Trainee who are recruited immediately after graduation. With zero prior professional experience, Ecobank pays a monthly salary of Ksh 55,000 to Ksh 60,000.
You will work for one year without getting a salary increment. They believe that the first year is for training. Ecobank will increase your salary from the second year—they normally increase it to Ksh 65,000 to Ksh 70,000. The salary will remain constant for 2 to 3 years where it’s increased again. By the time you work for them for 5 years, your salary will rise to Ksh 95,000 to Ksh 110,000.
When I asked my followers on Facebook, there is one particular comment that caught my eyes, it read:
“I used to work at Ecobank,I joined in 2020 as a graduate clerk. My starting salary was Ksh 55,000. I was a teller by then and later moved to the loans section. I had to work for 2 years to get a salary increment. When my salary was reviewed, they increased it to Ksh 68,000. I was also earning bonuses annually—at least that was something which motivated me. I left the bank in 2024 January after getting a better offer in another bank”.
If you rise to the position of supervisor, your monthly salary will be Ksh 120,000 to Ksh 150,000. Operations Manager erns Ksh 150,000 to Ksh 200,000 monthly while Branch Manager takes home Ksh 180,000 to Ksh 300,000. Branch Managers in Nairobi earn higher than Branch Managers in smaller towns.
To get a job as a Graduate Trainee, you have to be a university graduate with at least Second Class Upper Division. The bank prefer graduates younger than 28 years.
In addition to the undergraduate course,a professional certification is an added advantage.
