Bachelor of Business Administration is one of the business-related courses offered in Kenya. The course is very marketable in Kenya if you score first class or second upper and supplement the grade with a professional course. But if you get second lower or pass, it will be hard to get employed.
The bad thing about the course is that there are many graduates with similar qualifications. Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business information technology and Bachelor of Economics are some of the related courses. This means that you will be scrambling for the available job opportunities. If you are not highly connected, lucky or your grades are excellent,it will become hard for you to secure employment in Kenya.
Someone may want to know how long it takes after graduation for one to get a job in Kenya. To be honest, it will take you at least 2 years to get a job in Kenya. It can even take you 15 years to secure employment.
How to get a job faster in Kenya
Make sure you get the best grade in college. First class grade is the best. After graduation, look for the right connections. Nowadays, without connections, it becomes extremely hard for you to get employed.
Another thing that will help you is, pursue a professional course. CFA and ACCA are two excellent courses to pursue and attract the attention of recruiters in Kenya.
The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is another good professional course especially for graduates who want to join the audit sector. The Big 4 audit firms in Kenya: KPMG, PWC, Deloitte and Earnest & Young are the best audit firms.
It’s also not a must for you to get employed. If you have capital, start a profitable business.
Salary of Bachelor of Business Administration Graduate
The starting salary will be Ksh 40,000 to Ksh60,000. Some companies will pay you at least Ksh70,000 per month especially if you will be joining them as a graduate trainee. But expect to earn average of Ksh50,000 per month for the first 3 years you are employed.
