YouTuber Eve Mungai is facing a storm she has never faced in her lifetime after her YouTube channel’s earnings dropped to worrying levels. Eve was earning Ksh 1.5 million per month from the channel alone, making her one of the highest earning YouTubers in the country. Even the boyfriend, Trevor was excited to reveal their income where he told those who cared to listen that in a bad month, they make at least Ksh 1.5 million.
Eve decided to grow her income by sharing the YouTube content on Facebook. This is where her problems started. YouTube found the content to be duplicated and opted not to suggest it to viewers. Her posts which were getting over 200,000 views are now getting less than 2,000 views.
Eve also started posting boring content, which other content creators have already posted. Her subscribers got bored. Even if she posts a video on YouTube,90% of her subscribers don’t bother to watch it.
There was a time she posted offensive video about Akothee.Later she apologized, but Akothee had already reported her on YouTube, which is also one of the reasons YouTube punished Eve’s channel by reducing traffic.
The situation for her is so serious that she may fail to pay rent for her Kileleshwa house where she pays Ksh 120,000 per month. She also has workers to pay. Eve and her boyfriend both have cars which they fuel. In a month, their expenses are more than Ksh 300,000.
The YouTuber has to change strategy in order to improve traffic and income.
